Run through the streets of Tilburg in the new game: Sprint of your life!

In collaboration with BrabantSport and Techonomy, the municipality today launches the game Sprint Of Your Life. In this game, Tilburg transforms into a digital world, where sports and gaming come together. The launch marks the start of a new concept combining online and physical sports. Players of the game will be motivated to experience the physical 'sprint of your life' during the final event on October 21 in the middle of the Pieter Vreedeplein.

Movement

With the game, BrabantSport and the municipality aim to get youth in and around Tilburg moving in a fun and interactive way. Players run a race against the clock through the digital streets of Tilburg with iconic (sports) locations and highlights in Tilburg, such as the Koning Willem II stadium, the St. Jozef churches and the railway station. By setting a personal high score, players climb up the scoreboard, where they can see how they score compared to their neighbors.

The most fanatical players secure themselves a spot in the physical finals event. During the finals, everyone is welcome to experience the sprint of a lifetime for themselves.

Event

During the finale on the Pieter Vreedeplein, the connection is made between the digital and physical worlds. Participants will run across a life-size 100-meter track in the middle of the square during the event. Using advanced technologies, each finalist's physical "Sprint of Your Life" is captured in a personalized video with real-time statistics of their peak performance. The game is not a replacement for sports but rather is used as a booster of physical sports. "The game makes it possible to activate and enthuse a lot of target groups that might not easily find their way to regular sports. That Tilburg as a city plays a leading role in this is of course a great bonus," said a proud Maarten van Asten, Alderman for Sport.

One of the ambassadors of the game is Tilburg's influencer and street soccer player athlete Nasser el Jackson, who shares the common goal of BrabantSport and the municipality of Tilburg: stimulating as many youth as possible to get off the couch and be physically active. It is therefore important that not only the game, but also the event is accessible to everyone: "We deliberately chose not to assign winners or losers based on physical ability or performance in both the game and the physical final event. This gives everyone the chance to experience the sprint of their life." said Mathijs Timmer of BrabantSport.
