The New Vincent 2023 - talent competition for 10 -14 year olds
On Sunday, December 17, Alderman Marcelle Hendrickx will announce who will become The New Vincent of 2023 in Tilburg. This is simultaneously the opening of the exhibition at Kunstpodium T of the work of the 15 drawing talents who participated in the talent program of Vincent's Tekenlokaal.

'The New Vincent': Young Drawing Talent in Bloom
'The New Vincent' is an initiative of Vincent's Tekenlokaal for young people between 10 and 14 years old who love nothing more than drawing. They can compete for a place by submitting their most inspiring drawings. From these, 15 illustrators will be selected who, starting in May, will follow an intensive program that will conclude with an exhibition and the designation of "The New Vincent. The goal of the program is for the participating young people to further develop their talent, discover their signature and build a portfolio. The talent program is subsidized by the province of North Brabant and will take place this year in Nuenen and Zundert in addition to Tilburg. Next year Etten-Leur will join.
Inspiration from Vincent's Past
The great inspiration for this talent program is Vincent van Gogh, who as a 13-year-old boy took drawing lessons at the HBS in Tilburg; the place where Vincent's Tekenlokaal is located. The young artists of today were presented with a varied program of lessons by teachers from Vincent's Tekenlokaal, supplemented by guest teachers. They got to work with new techniques and methods, including in the 21st-century digital drawing room.
In addition, there were master classes by, among others, Golden Brush winner Djenné Fila, artist Paul van Dongen and Marjolein Schalk of Wobby club. Participants from all participating Van Gogh locations also paid a joint visit to the North Brabant Museum.
The Jury and the Unveiling
At the opening of the exhibition on December 17, it will be announced who can call himself "The New Vincent 2023. This is the artist who stands out the most in terms of originality, quality and growth. The jury consists of Paul van Dongen, Tyrell Kuipers and Klaartje Esch. Vincents Tekenlokaal is in any case very proud of the research drive of all the New Vincentians and of the challenge they took up.
