Cultural Tilburg takes over the city during Cultuurroute013.

"Here we put art on the map, on the streets, on balconies and in the spotlight."

On Thursday, May 25, Tilburg will be one big cultural Valhalla! At least, it already is. But on this day 16 cultural organizations in Tilburg open their doors wide with a jam-packed free program! Come listen to music from the balcony, experience musical cabaret, get a guided tour through the Tilburg Palace, visit the museums of the city and come dance at the Finish with music by Tilburg artists. Check everything about Cultuurroute013 here!

You read it right! Cultuurroute013 returns. After the previous edition was so well received, we could not stay behind this year. With even more locations and a fuller program, we can hardly wait until May 25. And for those who mysteriously missed it last year, here is a brief summary of what Cultuurroute013 really is:

Cultuurroute013

This creative idea originated in the somewhat less lively times; the lockdown. The streets of Tilburg were virtually empty, buildings sometimes looked bleak, the shop windows only showed your own reflection, and the cultural sector was on hiatus. High time for action! "Because, why not combine vacancy with culture? And how can we now showcase the venues even more?" And so it happened. The ball got rolling and cultural partners were hooked up. Ticket to Tilburg and City of Makers (platforms of Marketing Tilburg) created the free art event of the spring: Cultuurroute013.

When is Cultuurroute013?

Cultuurouteo013 takes place on Thursday, May 25 from 16:00-00:00. That's during the Tilburg shopping evening! The program of the route takes place between 16:00-21:00, so visitors have the chance to experience everything. Still have some energy left after the route? Then come to the Finish in Theater de Nieuwe Vorst to dance and/or have a drink from 21:00-00:00h. And good to know is that all locations during the route are free to visit!

What can you expect?

Lots of Tilburg cultural organizations have come up with a fun program for you! Among the locations in the route are various museums, theaters, studios, exhibition spaces, the Tilburg Palace-Council House, an empty building in the brand new Emmapassage, a wine store and the oldest cinema in the Netherlands. You can enter and enjoy everything for free! Think live music, balcony scenes, dance, exhibitions, film installations, a recumbent concert, guided tours, meet & greets with artists and an after party. In short: a surprising journey of discovery to everything Tilburg and its creators have to offer in one route, where both the seasoned culture connoisseur and the curious city explorer will be surprised by new locations and performances. Check out the entire program of Cultuurroute013 here!

Map and bicycle cabs

No need to memorize all the venues and their program. To keep it convenient and clear, download the map for free here. Rather have a map in your hands? During Cultuurroute013 you will find them at every participating location.

{All locations have a number, but just walk your own route. Do you start at 5,9 or 16? Find your own way!}

Bycicle cabs
This year, free bicycle cabs will ride from one participating location to another especially for Culture Route013 from 4:00-21:00 pm. Call, provide your destination and they will pick you up! Have a chat with the cycling driver and experience the city from the cab. That way you'll also save some energy for dancing at the Finish.

"Trade in your hiking boots for your partyfeet!"

De Finish (21:00-00:00u)

The last stop of Cultuurroute013 takes place at Theater de Nieuwe Vorst. In the Red Salon you can have drinks and enjoy vinyl records starting at 21:00. The Kraakkelder will fill up from 22:00 with electronic music by the Tilburg band The Robots Are Coming. Entrance to The Finish is also free!

Creators in the spotlight

We think it's important to put Tilburg creators in the spotlight. The location is the setting, the makers are the event! We are proud of the collaboration with Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. After an open-call, many enthusiastic responses came in from their students. The result is that we can place students at six locations during Cultuurroute013.

In Tilburg we know how to cooperate. This is clear from all the participating organizations: De Pont museum, PARK, Stadstheater de Boemel, Stoom013, Ateliers Tilburg, Huis van Muziek, Kunstpodium-T, Cinecitta, Theater de Nieuwe Vorst, Dock Zuid, Henri Bloem, Paleis-Raadhuis, Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg x Metro, SEA Foundation, De Nachtzuster, Krakers Tilburg, Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and MVGM Wonen. Thank you!
