On Thursday, May 16, it's time for Night University 2024, Tilburg University's vibrant campus and science festival. This year's event is all about 'Facts & Fables'.
Night University 2024: Feiten & Fabels
How do you know if something is true or false? Scientists are constantly working on that: through experiments and tests, by observing and measuring, by interviewing, by debunking illusions, by unraveling gigantic mountains of data, etc. With all these scientific facts and insights, we can better understand the world. What is Tilburg University's role in this?
But also in our daily lives we face the challenge of finding out what is true and what is false. We are flooded with information and have to deal with fake news, conspiracy theories, propaganda and advertising. There are many messengers who have their own truth and try to influence you. Especially now that the (data) technical possibilities are developing so rapidly, you can be misled even faster. How do we ensure that facts prevail over fables?
All these questions and more can be explored during Night University 2024 at Tilburg University, where various programs and activities will be offered to gain insight into these complex issues. Admission to all programs at Night University is completely free! The only thing you have to pay for is the delicious food and drinks at the bars and various food trucks.
