Looking at the chocolate creations on the counters of the store on the Willem II straat is already a delight. But when you put one in your mouth, it's absolute delight. With a mouth full of chocolate, Ticket to Tilburg tried to strike up a conversation with owner Dries.

What makes Friandries unique?

"Innovation in the traditional chocolate market is what Friandries stands for. We make surprising chocolate experiences with ingredients you won't easily find at another chocolatier. Little works of art that excite the senses. A combination of the finest ingredients in the right balance. The ultimate goal? To give the ultimate chocolate experience to the adventurous chocolate lover, the connoisseur and anyone who thought they didn't like chocolate."

What do people come to your store for?

"Customers come to us for the chocolates. In the store on the Willem II straat, everyone can put together their own luxury bonbon box by choosing from the assortment of 20 different bonbons. These are divided into the eight flavor categories: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, umami, herbal, spicy and piquant. They stand out for their eye-catching designs and colors. In addition, many curious people return each month for the skull of the month. This is a monthly changing bonbon with ingredients of the season with a surprising twist."

What is typically Tilburgian about your business? 

"Tilburg is woven into the origins of Friandries. In the creative heart of 013 something is always happening, all around you see colors, hear sounds and feel life flowing. The Tilburg vibes are an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The team full of Tilburgers, thinking bigger like the city (started as a bean now we're here) and the burgundian hospitality are typical. At Friandries, time is taken for each customer by having a chat and tasting a bonbon. The door of the chocolate studio is always open for you to take a look."
