Due to its tremendous success and the wonderful reception by critics and audiences, the dynamic dance performance STORM by LeineRoebana returns this season. The production was praised for its infectious sense of liberation.
STORM is a unique collaboration between former Composer of the Nation Calliope Tsoupaki and choreographers Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana. Vital emotions and order, dance, and music come together in a stormy performance.
STORM sounds threatening, but dance and music are intimate, like an invocation of the storm. Sound and movement evoke an echo of ancient Greek folk festivals, alternating between ritual and emotional. STORM is a rollercoaster of dance and music: from solemn movements, iconic gestures, and ritual precision to restrained and direct emotion. It is performed by a young cast of six dancers and musicians, including David Kweksilber on (bass) clarinet, David Mackor on theobre, and Dominique Chabot on double bass. The young fashion designer Carlijn Veurink adds an extra layer with her autonomous sculptural costumes.
