GAYE SU AKYOL

With the release of her first album 'Develerle Yaşıyorum' (2014), Gaye Su Akyol established herself as one of Turkey's most captivating young voices in the alternative rock scene.

Her work as a singer-songwriter, producer, and audio/visual conceptualist navigates through the past, present, and unwritten future. Akyol grew up in the cosmopolitan city of Istanbul, listening to both Anatolian music icon Selda Bağcan and Kurt Cobain, making Gaye's music globally conceptual yet locally rooted in spirit and nuance from the very beginning. After widespread critical acclaim for 'Hologram İmparatorluğu' (2016), Gaye and her band traveled extensively through Turkey, Europe, and the Middle East for months, sharing with audiences a vibrant mix of raki-infused traditional ballads, futuristic surf, and post-punk.

Strongly inspired by Turkish artists of the sixties and seventies, freedom and activism are central themes in her psychedelic protest music. In recent years, she has garnered praise with performances at Le Guess Who, Best Kept Secret, and Roskilde Festival. And now, she is coming to 013 for the first time!
