Is it Alive?
It vibrates, shimmers, rustles, crackles, breathes and sways back and forth. During the experience exhibition "Is it alive?", the TextielMuseum in Tilburg shows spatial textile installations that come to life through technology.

The textile installations in "Is it alive?" originate from a fascination with natural processes. How does something come to life? When do we experience something as 'alive'? During 'Is it alive?', the TextielMuseum shows the research of artists and designers who use technology to reproduce processes and movements from nature.
The centrepiece is DRIFT's new and never-before-shown installation 'I am Storm' where some 20 life-size sprites are set in motion as if by a gust of wind. Other exhibits include 'living architecture' by Canadian artist and architect Philip Beesley/Living Architecture Systems Group (LASG), and an activated look by Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen. The exhibition also highlights the making process in which it becomes clear that the artists are also inventors of innovative applications.
