Iceskating in Tilburg

It's finally here: this winter Tilburg will have its own covered ice rink. The Heuvelplein will be a true ice skating paradise. Fairy-tale lit by thousands of lights and with an atmospheric winter paradise cafe, where there is plenty to do.

The course will be decorated in a Christmas style and has a glass roof, so that the skaters have a view of the beautifully lit Sint Jozefkerk Church. Don't feel like skating for a while? Then you can enjoy watching the skaters in the Wintercafé with a hot chocolate or mulled wine.

When you arrive at the entrance to the ice rink, you are immediately in a wintery atmosphere. In the Christmas chalets the fireplace is already burning, in the middle you can sit down at the lighthouse to toast a marshmallow. The chalets are operated by the Mercure Hotel.

The organisation of the ice rink is in the hands of three well-known fairground entrepreneurs: Frank Vale, Gilbert de Poorter and Jos Roels. They have years of experience with this type of event and are supported by Robert Martens, caretaker of the Willem II College. Martens is the initiator of the budget fair in Tilburg, where every year 500 children of the Forgotten Child and the food bank are invited to celebrate free fairs. The ice rink is also a place for families with a small budget. That is why free tickets and discounts are distributed through various channels.

On 6 December, the ice rink will be officially opened for guests and sponsors. Saturday 7 December the ice rink will be open to the public. The various extra activities complete the winter festival: the Wednesdays are for children: they can go on the ice with Olaf and Elsa, Mickey and Minnie and Donald Duck, who all want to learn how to skate. Friday night is discoskating with a DJ on the ice. On Saturday, a DJ will play and various artists will perform the Dutch song of life. Also on Sundays, artists come to the tent with delicious feel-good music.

And there is more to do during Winter in Tilburg: on the Pieter Vredeplein there will be a real nostalgic merry-go-round for the children and a real wish tree. A huge tree where people can put a Christmas wish or a picture of a loved one. It is also possible to buy plastic baubles for them and the proceeds will go to a charity as well.

The organization is still looking for sponsors. Sponsors get a package with free tickets. If they do not use them, they will automatically go to The Forgotten Child or the Food Bank. The ice rink is open from 7 December to 5 January.
