Who are the entrepreneurs?
"Currently there are 15 independent businesses at work, each with their own world cuisine. The restaurants range from hobby chefs who started their first catering adventure to experienced catering entrepreneurs opening their second or third establishment. Most of the entrepreneurs are from Brabant and a large number of them from Tilburg and its surroundings. Almost all of them have a special bond with the country of their cuisine, often because they originally come from this country and thus grew up with their dishes. You can hopefully see and taste that in the authenticity of the flavors."
What do people come to this place for?
"For the huge range of choices, to taste something they haven't tasted before. Because we have so many different restaurants under one roof, chances are we have something to choose from even for the most difficult eaters and can also offer something new to the culinary adventurers. You can best see a visit to us as a culinary world tour, but just nice and close to home in the Spoorzone."
What is Gourmet Market's specialty?
"Because there is so much choice in the culinary field, it's hard to say. Everyone has their own favorites. We also have quite an extensive range of wines and specialty beers. And one of our specialties is our location. Right in the middle of the bustling Spoorzone, we have succeeded in creating a place where you can imagine yourself abroad, find peace and quiet, but also be back on the platform within two minutes."
What is typically Tilburg to you?
"Many people in Tilburg are of course (rightly) very proud of our old industrial building and are therefore very curious about what we have made of it. Fortunately, the reactions are very good and people are still amazed at the size of the building and the old industrial parts that are still visibly hanging from the roof.
Less obvious, but now typically Tilburgian, is our international character. Both in the kitchens and on the shop floor, and among our guests, all the languages of the world are now spoken. It is great to see that food and drinks bring different cultures together and we are happy to contribute to that."
