ANNE’S HOTTEST CHILLSPOTS-“Tilburg and its citizens are not afraid to venture off the beaten track.” “You can find more and more architectural gems, good restaurants, cool initiatives and successful businesses here!”
“The pink counter and tropical wallpaper make browsing a true joy in this fabulous concept store. Owner Jantien has a small collection of unique baby clothes made by her mother. Whenever I'm looking for the perfect pregnancy gift, TIEN is the place to go!”
“A him and her clothing store that has beautiful, special items. And their service is pretty special too. I mean, where do they still offer you a cup of coffee when you’re trying on your new outfit? The Superfly staff often knows what you bought on your previous visit and can effortlessly help you find the items that really suit you."
“What a great spot! Owners Bibi and Marieke were ahead of their time when they opened this creative coffee shop. It’s a lovely place for a hangover lunch on Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes I use Buutvrij as a place to get some work done. My favorite thing on the menu is the vegetarian ‘truffeltastisch’.”
“In the middle of the Piusplein surrounded by bars, you’ll find Gastrobar RIX. What awaits is a true gem! Ricky, the owner, has a unique style. Many of his dishes cannot be found elsewhere in town. I highly recommend ordering a tasting menu and giving Ricky the freedom to surprise you.”
“The place to be if you’re in the mood for a very special night out. Book a seat at the bar, which is basically a kitchen counter. It allows you to see the chefs in action, creating each dish with precision. Make sure to try out their vegetarian dishes, even if you’re not a vegetarian. They’ll blow you away!”
Streetart
“Tilburg has lots of amazing street art. There’s plenty to see in the Spoorzone but every neighborhood has its own beautiful murals and graffiti. Fun fact: on the Korvelseweg you can find Vincent van Gogh and De Zonnebloemen, two murals made by my brother Paul who is also known as Sneak Art.”
“Cinecitta is the oldest operating cinema in The Netherlands. They show fantastic arthouse movies, but that’s not the only perk. You’re free to take your glass of craft beer with you during the
MOERENBURG
“To the east of Tilburg you’ll find Moerenburg, a breathtakingly beautiful nature reserve right next to the city. It’s a lovely place to walk, run, cycle or even explore by boat on its creeks and streams. In Moerenburg you’re guaranteed to feel totally relaxed.”
“A great spot to do yoga, (pregnancy) pilates and aerial yoga, a cross-over between yoga and the circusact ‘tissue’. I’m a big fan of aerial yoga, so I’m regularly hanging upside down from a long piece of cloth. It was pretty scary at first, but the calm optimism of my teacher Yvonne makes me step out of my comfort zone.”
“De Kennismakerij in the LocHal hosts all kinds of events all year round. There’s something for everyone: from cooking workshops to gaming nights. I really like the ‘Tegenlicht’ meet-ups and ‘Fuck-Up Nights’, they are always interesting. If you’re lucky you just might catch me performing too when I’m doing improv theatre, a hobby of mine!”
