Art of Lace Textielmuseum

TextielMuseum + De Pont in one!

The TextielMuseum and De Pont museum offer their visitors a holiday gift this summer. For two months, from 1 July to 30 August, visitors can visit both museums with one ticket.

Sorry, this event is not available anymore

The admission ticket for one museum is valid on the same day in the other museum. A good opportunity for a museum day in Tilburg! It is necessary to reserve a ticket at both museums prior to your visit via the website of TextielMuseum and De Pont. At the museum you visit second, you indicate that you are entitled to free admission. When you arrive at the second museum, you show the entrance ticket of the first museum.

TextielMuseum

This summer at the TextielMuseum you can imagine yourself behind the scenes of the world's largest fashion houses in the extended exhibition 'The Art of Lace'. See more than forty refined lace creations by Chanel, Dior, Iris van Herpen and Jean Paul Gaultier, among others, until 6 September. In the exhibition you will discover how fashion designers work together with lace makers to create these unique pieces. De Volkskrant wrote earlier that your admiration for the craftsmanship grows in this fashion exhibition, so don't miss it!

In the new exhibition 'Red threads' you will discover personal stories and cultural perspectives through art and design. Themes such as religion, spirituality, gender, sexuality, children's stories and fantasies are featured in the exhibition with works by contemporary makers such as Eylem Aladogan, Jaime Hayon and Hella Jongerius, to works about two hundred years old.

The Pont museum

At the De Pont museum you can witness the construction of the collection presentation DE ROUTE WORDT OPNIEUW BREKEND. This fleet view reunites the public with well-known and lesser known works from the collection, such as Kinderspielplatz by Rosemarie Trockel, Bolivian Coal Line by Richard Long, Große Geister by Thomas Schütte, but also 12 new etchings by his hand (Blues Women and Blues Men), the Clockshop by Job Koelewijn and in the video room the two new acquisitions by Kara Walker: National Archives Microfilm M999 Roll 34: Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands: Six Miles from Springfield on the Franklin Road and calling to me from the angry surface of some grey and threatening sea... on view. Soon inserts will be added, such as the Tilburg art collective Wobby.club and the Belgian-Moroccan artist Hamza Halloubi.

The title of the collection presentation is a playful reference to the voice of the navigation system in the car when an unexpected turn is taken. And especially to the reorientation and manoeuvrability of the art institutions as a result of the covid-19 crisis.
