Ad Fijneman | Metropolitan Museum

The 'BEUM' exhibition will show you some extraordinary furniture and objects, from the Sabine Virgin robbery to an intertwined Ginger and Fred. All designed in wood that is everywhere for the taking and whose beauty can hardly escape you. Welcome.

Ad Roefs is an architect and you most likely think of bricks and concrete. Of straight lines and sleek shapes. Nothing could be further from the truth, since childhood he has been fascinated by trees, impressive creatures that are always beautiful, whether they grow thirty metres straight up or are jagged and gnarled and crooked, sculpted by sun and wind and rain.

During walks, Roefs collects blown-off branches, fallen stumps, rhizomes and anything with a telling shape, amazed at the wonderfully imaginative sculptor that nature is. Together with other found materials, he incorporates them into furniture.

With pleasure, the Metropolian Museum invites you to the exhibition 'BEUM' at the 'Metropolitan Museum' at Stedekestraat 15 in Tilburg from Friday 12 January to Sunday 24 February. The opening is Friday evening 12 January 2024 at 20:00.
